Random act of kindness...

October 13th, 2006 at 01:19 am

I feel good about myself today, and here's why: my boss had a conference today, ordered lunch in (not for us, we don't deserve that kind of treatment I guess). But anyway, she did bring us the leftovers, woohoo! I took home 3 sandwiches, and since there are just 2 of us at home, I gave one away to a person who was asking for money in the subway station on my way back home, with a bag of chips.

It feels good to help someone in need, even with a small gesture.

I also wanted to donate blood this morning. There was an MGH truck parked near my work. They told me they couldn't accept my blood because I spent to much time in Europe. That's a weird policy, but their loss, I say...

That was nice of you and you should feel good

Doesn't that leave you with such an amazing feeling? I always get such a high when I do things like that. I wish I had the means to do it more often!

Yay you for being such a good person! I wish more people were like you. Every once in a while I like to pay for the coffee/food of the person behind me in the DnD drive through. It's a nice surprise for them and it (selfishly??) makes me feel good, too. Wink

oooh, maybe we should have a frugal good deeds challenge...

On top of doing a good thing, I've got all of you telling me how much of a good person I am... Just kidding! That feels good too though. Tha reminds me of that episode of Friends where Joey bets with Phoebe that there is no such thing as a truly selfless act of kindness.

Tina - good going with the $10! I like your suggestion too.

People who spent time in Europe during the incidents of mad cow disease are not allowed to give blood here. The disease can be passed through the blood. Or at least that is what they told my friend when she wasn't allowed to give blood.

LuckyRobin - I think it is the reason why, but I gave blood in France as soon as I turned 18 and was allowed to do it. Now when I go back for vacation they won't take my blood either because I've spent too much time in the US... go figure!
