I've been in need of a serious upgrade for my computer. The one I have now is 5 years old. I love playing RTS (Real Time Strategy) games, and because of my old hardware I cannot play any of the newer games.
I'm comfortable with replacing the new components myself. This is a project I've been thinking about for a while now. Only I don't have the budget for it.
In order to get a functioning PC, I will the following new components:
- Motherboard
- CPU (w/ cooling)
- Memory
- Graphic Card
I have 2 hard drives, so I'm set with that.
I've done a bit of research and here's what I came up with on Newegg.com:
- DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra...
$ 109.99
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo 2.2GHz
$ 159.00
- Thermaltake CL-P0296 CPU Cooler
$ 26.99
- CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 40...
$ 74.99
- BFG Tech GeForce 7600GT 256MB
$ 142.99
Total: $ 513.96
The processor is not exactly what I wanted. I am looking for a 4400 Toledo, but I can't seem to find one anywhere anymore!
I have opened an HSBC account, which is our "Fund" account. There are $45 in it, so I still have a little bit to go.

Incidentally, which game is that catches your fancy? Age of Empires III?
Enjoy it for me.

BA - I do like Age of Empire III. My husband got it for me for Christmas. I've had Civ IV since last year, but poor PC won't let me play it. I've been into Age of Mythology, Civilization Series, and off course: Warcraft!

So, uh, you into MMOs?

Second, well, my pc is just not up to speed for these new requirements. I have a There (www.there.com) membership that I haven't used to in ages! Last week, I decide to hop on and see what's going on. I couldn't even do that!
Oh and I forgot one game that I've spent some nights on: Rise of Nations! That's also a good one.

Rise of Nation is simply superb. The only reason why I didn't play more of it is because my computer was so old that it ran choppy, and that was during the beginning of the game!
Ah... yeah. I can see why you were snapped up pretty quick.
